Check your phone before buying
Make sure your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked. Some travelers discover too late that their device or carrier settings prevent eSIM activation abroad.
Install before departure
Install the eSIM on a stable Wi-Fi connection before your flight. Save the QR code and setup instructions offline in case you need to reinstall or troubleshoot.
Activate after landing
After arriving in Japan, select the eSIM for mobile data, enable data roaming for that line, and test maps and messaging before leaving the airport.
